In case you didn't know, I am a HUGE fan of Hyperbole and a Half. Allie is my official hero. I aspire to one day be as funny as her.
Anyway, whilst stalking perusing Hyperbole and a Half, I clicked on the "Awesome Button" and was directed to one of the most amazing sites I have ever seen... Superuseless Superpowers!
Here's just a couple to whet your appetite:
SUPERUSELESS SUPERPOWER: Post-It Nope
Take out the trash, pay the credit card bill, dry-clean the erotic Japanese body pillow. Yep, sticky notes are great for all kinds of reminders. Unless you have this power, which removes all the stickiness with just a touch. Now that once useful pad is a slightly less useful stack of paper.
SUPERUSELESS SUPERPOWER: Healing Punch
Float like a butterfly and sting like the bedside manner of Mother Teresa. As a superhero, sometimes you have to resort to violence. Too bad your ferocious fists instantly heal the damage you inflict. Whereas most punches would deliver a crushing Ivan Drago-like knockout. Yours leave your opponent feeling amazingly refreshed and rejuvenated. At least until he counters with an uppercut to your esophagus.

You know what made the first Pirates film so successful? It wasn't just Johnny Depp (although he stole the show), nor that it was a pirate movie... but the fact that they were ZOMBIE PIRATES! That's why 2 and 3 were never as good - there were no zombies :(
Now, there's no talk of zombies in number 4, but it's already geeky in my head. So here's a trailer:

Apologies for the terrible pun of a headline, but it's happened again... that's right: the iPhone alarm system failed to update itself to British Summer Time this morning, causing many people to either wake up too early, too late, or not at all.
Apparently it has not affected everyone, however following the problems they had last year when the clocks went forward, and then again at the start of 2011, you have to wonder whether the guys over at Apple ever use their iPhone's as an alarm.
Also, if you work for Apple, are you allowed to have any other phone?

It's finally official. After a rather long time searching, the actress to play Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's (300, Watchmen, Suck Punch) upcoming re-reboot to the Superman franchise - Superman: The Man of Steel, has finally been found.
And who is it you ask? Well, none other than the wonderfully talented Amy Adams (Junebug, The Fighter, Enchanted).
She will star opposite the relatively unknown British actor Henry Cavill who plays Clark Kent/Superman.
As an unashamed Superman fan, I can't wait.
Filming starts this summer.

It's official. Miracle Kidz, the Japanese game developer, has confirmed that they are making a sequel to the 1989 NES classic "River City Ransom". Although this may not mean a lot to the younger generation of gamers, it's something of a big deal to anyone who had a NES in the early 90's.

After letting it sit on my shelf for a little while, I've finally decided to give Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare a go. For those of you that didn't know, I recently finished playing through Deadly Premonition - a good game to play through but a terrible game to actually play (see my review to understand that statement). Jumping from that game to this one has been like night and day. The controls feel great, the sounds effects seem realistic, the horses moves as I want them to, and the guns feel like... well, guns.
This isn't a review of Undead Nightmare. That would be silly. I loved Red Dead Redemption and so far I love this expansion. If you're looking for an opinion on the game then I would just tell you to stop looking and go play it. If you haven't actually played the full game before this expansion then you're just missing out and that's your loss. Go get the game, go play it, go enjoy it.
**If you haven't finished Red Dead Redemption don't read past this point***
What I do want to talk about is the awesome environment Rockstar has created with Undead Nightmare. I didn't care much for the ending of the full game. John Marston is/was a great character, and seeing him riddled full of holes upset me. Trying to replace him with his son was a good idea in terms of keeping the environment open after beating the game. Everything was the same, nothing was different playing as Jack instead of John, but I didn't FEEL the same. Just in the little things he said, the tone of his voice; he's not the badass his father was. Also, my John Marston could have easily taken on the 20 or so guys that killed him in the end, but that's besides the point.
All that being said, you can imagine how happy I was to put in Undead Nightmare and see that I would play as John Marston once again. I was also happy to see my own son turn into a zombie within the first moments of the game - seems like lil' Jack won't be like his father after all.
So what's different? The map is the same but the towns are all overrun with zombies. You need to fend off hordes of zombies to temporarily save areas. You get rewarded with ammo for the most part and sometimes a new weapon when you save a town off the beaten track. They did a good job with the new content - adding things like tomahawks and explosive rifles makes killing the hordes fun. There really is nothing like using dead eye to toss a tomahawk at a charging zombie, splitting its skull and lodging the sharp end right between its eyes.
The whole environment is full of new and undead creatures now. Bats fly through the air instead of hawks, skinless coyotes attack in the wild, there are even a few sasquatch(es) in the mountains around Tall Trees. I always enjoy when a game takes an environment that you've grown accustomed to and turns it upside down. Ocarina of Time would be a good example of this.
In the full game, I was obsessed with finding and taming the best horse in the game. Near the end, I finally found my black stallion and claimed it as my own, riding around on it proudly. In Undead Nightmare, some fool shot my horse by accident while fending off a horde of zombies in Blackwater. I was forced to lasso him and drag him around a little bit. I then hogtied him and left him in the wilderness near some zombies. That's what happens to people that mess with my horse. I was pleased to see the addition of mystical horses in this expansion. Early on I managed to find one of the 4 rare horses in the game near the MacFarlane Ranch. I got War, the flaming horse that sets enemies on fire as I run them over. Needless to say, he's a friggin badass. I don't even think he can be killed by gunfire, either. Yeah, he's that cool.
Undead Nightmare is simply an enjoyable experience and a great expansion - so much more than adding on an additional string of quests to the original story. I loved the full game, and I love the engine it runs on. Everything is so damn smooth, and it all works. I guess it's just pleasing to play such a game after Deadly Premonition. I must admit though, playing this is really prepping me for LA Noire. Now that's a game I think we're all waiting very impatiently for. Rockstar has yet to really let me down, so it comes with high expectations. Until then, I'll be saving the survivors of the post-apocalyptic world, taking their ammo, and blasting through the heads of the undead. Just don't mess with my goddamn horse.

Dawn of War II, was awesome. Chaos Rising which was the add on, it was okay, as a fan of the series, I'd say that Chaos Rising brought nothing new to the field. However Retribution is pure awesomeness.
From the offset Retribution shows off it's stawberries in style, there are several factions to play. No longer do we have to be tormented by the rightousness of the space marines (who are heroes) but lets face it, it gets boring. So the introduction of the Eldar, Orks, Tyranids, Imperial Guard, and Chaos Marines is a welcome appearance. Each playable in the campaign.
The initial DOW II, focused entirely on your heroes. This one gives you the option of investing in them or sacrificing their potential upgrades for additional units. It undoubtedly provides more depth to the game. At the end of the missions you can select which path you wish to take your tech tree down, and you can develop these if you wish. There is the usual wargear regarding your heroes.
Visually the game is beautiful, the effects of plasma grenades decimating a platoon, or tanks destroying cover is epic. It builds on DOW II, although the difference is not immense. It is always nice to drool over your keyboard. The beauty is backed up by the micro-animations of your heroes, seeing them pummel an Orks head with a power hammer gets you excited no matter how many times you see it happen. Furthermore the gritty hardened voices make you hot under the collar. Retribution shows you that it is good to be bad.
I would say that people may be frustrated that the game has to be downloaded, even when bought in store. You have to go home and download it. For people who have a download limit or a poor internet connection, it may be troublesome. You can thank Steam for this, if you wish to. Personally as a dedicated gamer I think it is a ridiculous farce. But that's just me.
Overall, Retribution plays beautifully. It's taken DOW II and given it the mother of all revamps. I would strongly recommend this to fans of the original, and to those who want to be swept off their feet. Re-playability value is debatable, however with so many factions you'll be kept pre-occupied for a while.
